Hi! My name is Shanna Hoppie and I’d like to share a little of my story about how learning the Laws of Success (which includes the Law of Attraction) has changed my life.
I am a mother of six children. I chose to stay home with them and even homeschool them for 8 years. Gradually it became harder and harder to make the ends meet and still provide our family with the money and resources to enjoy life and the activities we liked.
I started to think about my talents, skills and abilities and felt that I wanted to be able to bring in some income to help our family. But I didn’t want to sacrifice staying at home or homeschooling to go to work for someone.
I had heard of people working from home and I knew that I was capable of doing it also. So I prayed one day like I hadn’t prayed before. I told God about what I saw were my strengths and talents and asked Him to help me find a way to create an income from home. I poured my heart out that day and knew that I had given it to God to help me. If there was a job/career that I could do and enjoy doing, He would help me find it-I hoped He would help me find it.
About a month later, as I was discussing a project for the local Little League with another board member, he asked me if I was looking for a job. I told him I was, but that it had to have certain parameters – work from home, flexible hours, etc. I knew that would probably take me out of the opportunity. He asked when I could start. I was ecstatic! It was exactly what I had asked for AND it paid very well.
The next year I moved up to work directly with the owners of the company and more than doubled my income. I couldn’t believe it. I was able to do work I enjoyed, stay home with my children and make a great income.
Then things began to change. I started to see a side of the job I didn’t like and felt out of place. The end of that year, my contract wasn’t renewed. I was out of work. I thought that I had found the dream situation, but then it was gone. Why did this happen? I tried praying again, but it just didn’t feel the same. The emotion and determination wasn’t there, the confidence that God would make it happen wasn’t there, the peace that it would work out wasn’t there. What was I doing wrong?
Over the next few months I began a search. I read scriptures looking for answers. I googled every topic I could think of. Nothing really seemed to help. I learned a lot! But my question was still there – what is the pattern or process that I can follow to get what I want every time I ask, not just hit and miss. Deep down I KNEW that there was a system. I’ve been taught all my life that God is organized and that there are laws that everything must follow. So what are these laws?
Within two months I found the answer, or rather, the beginning of the answer. I came across a little book called “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace Wattles.
At first I wasn’t sure that a book written 100 years ago would be very helpful or interesting, but for some reason I was drawn to it. By the time I had finished reading it, my life had changed. You’ve probably heard it said that once the mind has been stretched, it can’t go back. WOW! I was blown away by what I read. There it was – plain and simple – a simple pattern to follow. Just to be sure, I checked it against scriptures Wallace sited. Is that really what it says? YES!
This began my search to learn all I could about the book, about others who had read the book or followed the book. I found others who had some of the same questions I had and they shared how it had changed their lives. Within a few months I found Hidden Treasures. This book took me to the next level. I stretched my mind again. There are Laws of Success! They do work! I had experienced the success of them even though I didn’t know or understand them. Now, armed with the understanding of how they work, I have been able to make great strides towards my dreams. Many of them I have reached and many that I am still looking forward to accomplish.
